The title sounds like a Disney movie, doesn’t it? Sadly, it is not. On March 14, 2012, a large- sized postcard was sent in the mail from current Milwaukee County Supervisor, Marina Dmitrijevic. Among her many bad bullet points she stated she has secured “Millions for South Shore Park, to improve the Pavilion, Bike trail, and Play set.”
How expensive is this play set? $500,000? $1,000,000? Normally, when I think of million dollar play sets, I think of Miller Park, or some other sporting venue, which is fun and games for children in adult bodies. Hopefully, most of the children at South Shore’s play set will be under 35.
The “Millions” she has secured is most likely taxpayer money. It isn’t as if Warren Buffet, or the Bradley Foundation donated to Milwaukee County’s over bloated Park System. If you have children, who need a place to play, I would suggest buying a sandbox for your back yard. It is cheaper, safer, and not a burden to the taxpayer.
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. The residents of Milwaukee County continue to shell out their tax dollars to support a park system that is being taken over by murderers, drug dealers, gang bangers, prostitutes, perverts and the like. Am I exaggerating? On March 28, 2012, JSOnline reported that a dead body was found on the island of the lagoon in McGovern Park. The Journal-Sentinel devoted an entire sentence to this very serious discovery, but I digress.
Meanwhile, the County Board, including Marina Dmitrijevic, voted to lay-off Sheriff’s Deputies and cut the budget of the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s office. Do you know who has the responsibility of patrolling the parks? That would be the very same Sheriff’s office.
Where are our priorities? Frankly, that is for you to decide. You can do so on Tuesday, April 3rd.
