Services will be held April 9 for former Milwaukee County executive F. Thomas Ament, who died Monday evening of lung cancer. He was 76.
Ament, who resigned in 2002 amid fallout over the pension scandal, had served in county government for 34 years.
Ament had been battling lung cancer for several months. He died at a Milwaukee-area hospice. A death notice ends with a quotation from one of his grandchildren: “I think Grandpa kicked lung cancer in the teeth.”
A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. at Gesu Catholic Church, 1145 W. Wisconsin Ave. The family will greet friends beginning at 9 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Memorials to St. Ann’s Center for Intergenerational Care, Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, Marquette University High School, Zilber Family Hospice or another charity are suggested.
